Brandi Baker-Rudicel Scholarship

  • The Brandi Baker-Rudicel scholarship fund was started by Gay Kennedy.  Gay Kennedy was the first teen parent teacher in South Lane School District (SLSD).  This scholarship program was started because teen parents can succeed in college.  Brandi Baker-Rudicel was the first teen parent from South Lane School District's Teen Parent Program to graduate with a four year degree from a university.  When this happened, Gay Kennedy created this scholarship for teen parents from the SLSD Teen Parent Program.  When they have successfully completed two years of college, they can apply for this scholarship.

    Definition of Success

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded”
    -Ralph Waldo Emerson
